The two-day Snead State Invitational concluded Tuesday.
Lunceford (Tuscaloosa, AL/Northside HS) fired a second-round 83 to move up seven places, while Dufrene (New Orleans, LA/Mount Carmel Academy) followed close behind with Tuesday's 86 to advance three spots from Monday's opening round. They finished with respective two-round totals of 176 and 177 to individually place as the highest of the 12 golfers representing the three MACCC schools currently competing in women's golf. Northwest Mississippi and Pearl River placed seventh and eighth, respectively, among this week's 10-team field.
Representing teams from the states of Alabama, Mississippi, Florida and Tennessee, a total of 56 women's golfers competed this week in Mobile. Shelton State Community College swept the team and individual titles with a 37-shot victory over Florida Gateway and Peyton Maraman earning medalist honors.
Fellow EMCC freshman Lannee Bray (Raymond, MS/Central Hinds Academy) finished in 33rd place with a two-day score of 195 to round out the Lions' scorecard this week.
Lunceford, Dufrene and Bray are currently competing as individuals this spring season after EMCC fielded a five-member women's team during the fall campaign.
Head coach Ashton Maddaloni's EMCC women's golfers are scheduled to next compete at the Spring Golden Tiger Collegiate, March 10-11, hosted by Brenau University at Chattahoochee Golf Club in Gainesville, Ga.
Following a seventh-place finish in their spring season debut earlier this month (Feb. 10-11) in the Mississippi Gulf Coast-hosted tournament held at Grand Bear Golf Club in Saucier, the EMCC men's golf team is slated to be back on the links in conference play, March 3-4, at the East Central-hosted Chris Clark Invitational. The two-day MACCC event will be played at Dancing Rabbit Golf Club in Philadelphia.
