SCOOBA — East Mississippi Community College sophomore forward Ja'Mia Hollings has been selected the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week for her collective three-game efforts.
During the Lady Lions' 2-1 week, which included a pair of commanding wins over Northeast Mississippi, Hollings averaged 17.0 points, 12.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.7 blocks per outing. She also shot 69 percent (20-29 FGs) from the field and connected on all 11 of her free throw attempts. Hollings now has 19 career double-doubles to her credit after two more this past week.
Hollings opened last week with 19 points (9-10 FGs) and eight rebounds in EMCC's 82-49 home win over Northeast on Monday. Following a 10-point, 11-rebound effort at Coahoma on Thursday, the West Point native then capped her outstanding week with a season-high 22 points (8-11 FGs & 6-6 FTs) and career-most 19 rebounds during the Lady Lions' 59-39 road triumph over NEMCC.
This marks the third time Hollings has received the conference's Player of the Week honor after being chosen on two occasions during last year's conference championship season for the EMCC women. The reigning all-conference performer is again averaging a double-double for Coach Sharon Thompson's 6-3 Lady Lions with team-leading averages of 13.0 points and 11.2 rebounds as a sophomore. Hollings is also shooting 58 percent from the field and 71 percent from the charity stripe on the year.
