East Mississippi Community College to hold open gym events and cheerleading tryouts on Scooba campus
East Mississippi Community College will conduct cheerleading tryouts for the upcoming 2014-15 school year May 2-3 on the Scooba campus.
SCOOBA – East Mississippi Community College will conduct cheerleading tryouts for the upcoming 2014-15 school year May 2-3 on the Scooba campus.
Under the guidance of head cheerleading coach Amy Harris, EMCC's two-day cheerleading tryouts and monthly open gym events are open to all students, including interested male cheerleaders, who plan to attend East Mississippi Community College on a full-time basis during the 2014-15 academic year. With full-tuition scholarships available for both males and females, the EMCC cheer squad also has plans to participate in the UCA summer camp and UCA nationals this coming year.
The open gym events will be held monthly on the Scooba campus at Keyes T. Currie Coliseum beginning on Thursday, Jan. 30 from 5-8 p.m. With subsequent dates scheduled for Feb. 17, March 19 and April 23, open gym consists of tumbling, stunting and practicing with all interested participants.
The cheerleading tryout process will commence Friday, May 2 with registration and warm-ups beginning at 4 p.m. at EMCC's Currie Coliseum. Tryouts will also be held the following day starting at 8 a.m.
