EMCC Lions set for regular-season finale after fourth straight baseball doubleheader split
East Mississippi Community College posted a fourth straight baseball doubleheader split in MACCC action by claiming a 10-7 opening-game home win over Copiah-Lincoln on Saturday before dropping a 3-2 decision to the visiting Wolves the following day at Gerald Poole Field. The twin bill spanned both days of the weekend after rain moved through the area late Saturday afternoon.

The Lions of East Mississippi Community College closed out their regular-season road baseball schedule by earning a doubleheader split with 15th-ranked Northwest Mississippi during Wednesday’s MACCC action played at Jim Miles Field. After claiming the 9-6 opener with a five-run ninth inning, the Lions dropped a hard-fought 6-5 decision to the Rangers in the nightcap.

EMCC Lions settle for baseball doubleheader split at Southwest Mississippi
The Lions of East Mississippi Community College couldn’t quite secure a road doubleheader sweep over home-standing Southwest Mississippi during Saturday’s MACCC baseball action. On the heels of claiming a 9-2 victory over the Bears in the opener, EMCC had to settle for a twin-bill split after letting a 3-0 lead slip away in the nightcap by allowing five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.

East Mississippi Community College split a pair of one-run decisions with visiting Itawamba during Tuesday’s MACCC baseball action played at Gerald Poole Field. Following a 4-3 walk-off victory over ICC in the opening game, the Lions dropped a 2-1 decision to the Indians during the nightcap.

EMCC Lions drop baseball decisions to preseason ranked Meridian and East Central
Participating in their second three-team, round-robin baseball event against MACCC competition this season, East Mississippi Community College fell to preseason 13th-ranked Meridian, 10-7, and to 10th-ranked East Central, 10-8, in non-conference action played this past Tuesday at the Clark/Gay Baseball Complex on the ECCC campus.

EMCC Lions take three-game baseball series with two wins over Shelton State
East Mississippi Community College’s baseball team took two of three games from Shelton State during a home-and-home series played this past week. The Lions claimed a 12-8 victory in Scooba on Thursday before the two teams split Saturday’s doubleheader in Tuscaloosa, with EMCC prevailing, 17-8, in the first game and the Bucs bouncing back with a 15-3 nightcap win.

Gates Gerhart gives EMCC Lions back-to-back MACCC Baseball Position Players of the Week
For the second straight week, East Mississippi Community College lays claim to the MACCC’s Baseball Position Player of the Week honor. EMCC sophomore first baseman Gates Gerhart follows suit this week after reigning all-conference slugger Evan Radford earned the distinction a week ago for the Lions.
