East Mississippi Community College running back Gavin Griffin has added to his list of 2025 season accomplishments by being named to this year’s NJCAA Division I Football All-America First Team. The National Junior College Athletic Association announced the organization’s first-team, second-team and honorable-mention football selections on Saturday (Dec. 20).

Austin Roberts, a Georgia native and former teammate of first-year EMCC defensive coordinator Justin Lucas on the Lions’ 2013 national championship team, has been named as an assistant coach on Buddy Stephens’ football coaching staff at East Mississippi Community College.

Aberdeen product and Troy University alum Justin Lucas, a former defensive standout and two-time national champion at East Mississippi Community College, has returned to the Scooba campus to serve as the Lions’ defensive coordinator. The announcement was made this week by EMCC head football coach Buddy Stephens.

In a high-scoring contest that featured 65 fouls called and 114 free throw attempts, the visiting Lions of East Mississippi Community College reached the 10-win mark on the season with Friday night’s 105-101 road victory over Wallace State Community College. EMCC’s final game prior to the upcoming Christmas holiday break was played at Traditions Bank Arena in Hanceville, Ala.
