Athletic Media Ambassador Application

Being an EMCC Athletic Media Ambassador looks great on a resume for university transfer scholarships and future job opportunities. Besides being a vital part of EMCC Athletics and getting up close to all of the action, being an Athletic Media Ambassador offers other rewards as well! The position comes with a $300-1500 per semester scholarship (depending on assignment) and EMCC gear that will be worn to work events. 

Assignments might be:

  • Run a camera for the live stream at games
  • Play by play for live stream broadcasts
  • Assist with social media for a team or event
  • In-game music for events
  • Assist with graphic design for social media posts 
  • Assist with video editing for social media, game highlights, etc
  • Shooting sideline video, game video, etc. 
  • Other duties as needed by the department 

You will be assigned a job based on our needs and what we believe you are most qualified for. If you do not wish to accept your assignment, we can discuss it, but the Director of Athletic Digital Media will make the final decision on assignments. DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION/RESUME/LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION IS JUNE 20.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Athletic Ambassadors must maintain a minimum of 15 hours per semester and maintain a 2.5 or better GPA.
  • Athletic Ambassadors must maintain office hours each week. Only 2 absences allowed per semester.
  • Athletic Ambassadors will be required to participate in campus activities that occur not only during the day, but also at night or during weekends.
  • Work is not an acceptable excuse for lack of participation  in scheduled activities.
  • Some ambassadors will be required to attend off-campus athletic events. 
  • Athletic Ambassadors will be expected to assist with large photo shoots/media days/etc, for their sport and sometimes for other sports as well. 
  • Each person serving as an Athletic Ambassador must be extremely dependable, have a friendly, outgoing, enthusiastic personality, use good taste in dress and style, have a willingness to help others, possess strong leadership qualities and good communication skills, be free of disciplinary action, and have the ability to devote the time and effort needed to become a successful part of the  EMCC student media ambassador team. Remember that you are a representative of East Mississippi Community College! 
  • Participation in other recruiting and public relations duties as they arise will also be required.
  • Ambassadors will serve for 1 semester and will be re-evaluated for the following semester (if they wish to continue). 
  • All ambassadors report directly to the Director of Athletic Digital Media, Marketing, and Engagement and, at times, will also report to the District Director of Information Technology and/or the Sports Information Director.
