Lady Lions fall on the road 65-50 to Coahoma

CLARKSDALE — The EMCC Lady Lions dropped a 65-50 road decision to the Coahoma Lady Tigers during Thursday's MACCC women's basketball action played at the Pinnacle.
In leading from the opening tip-off to the final buzzer, Coahoma's 18-13 lead at the end of the opening quarter was extended to 38-27 by the halftime break.
Coahoma maintained its double-digit advantage for the remainder of the contest by continuing to dominate the offensive boards.
The visiting Lady Lions did manage to cut the deficit to 11 points (61-50) late in the game on Markiema Lancaster's pair of free throws. However, they did not score again during the final three minutes of play.
Shakira Wilson was EMCC's lone double-digit scorer with 11 points. DJ Williams followed with nine points, while Siarra Jackson contributed seven points and five rebounds.
Coahoma displayed balanced scoring with five players scoring between nine and 12 points. Tiara Abron led the way for the Lady Tigers with a dozen points, followed by Nakia Cheatham and Brayland Ferguson with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Coach Sharon Thompson's 1-1 EMCC Lady Lions will travel to Northwest Mississippi for a Monday (Nov. 8) contest before returning home to play host to Itawamba on Thursday (Nov. 11). Tip-off time for the EMCC-ICC women's game is set for 5:30 p.m. at Currie Coliseum on the Scooba campus.
