East Mississippi basketball teams set for action in MACJC State Tournament at Copiah-Lincoln Community College

Slated to take place at Co-Lin's Mullen Gymnasium throughout the week, semifinal-round tournament action is scheduled for Wednesday followed by men's and women's championship contests Thursday evening.
Seeded fourth from the MACJC's North Division with a 7-5 league mark, head coach Sharon Thompson's EMCC Lady Lions will take on the host and unbeaten Lady Wolves of Copiah-Lincoln Monday evening at 6 p.m. The top-seeded Co-Lin women are 23-0 on the year and ranked 20th nationally in the most recent NJCAA Division I poll. EMCC's Lady Lions are 12-11 on the season after wrapping up regular-season play this past week by edging Holmes, 72-71, in Scooba and most recently claiming a 66-50 road win over Northwest Mississippi on Thursday.
Monday's first-round women's action is also scheduled to feature MACJC North Champion Itawamba against fourth-seeded Meridian from the MACJC South at 1 p.m., followed by South No. 2 seed East Central versus North No. 3 seed Holmes at 2:45 p.m. Monday's nightcap will pit second-seeded Northwest Mississippi of the MACJC North against No. 3 South seed Jones County at 7:45 p.m.
As the MACJC North Division's No. 2 seed with a 9-3 league record, head coach Mark White's EMCC Lions enter postseason play with a 17-6 overall mark after falling this past week at home to division champion Holmes, 74-64, and most recently at Northwest Mississippi, 79-75, on Thursday. On the men's side, East Mississippi will meet third-seeded Mississippi Gulf Coast Tuesday evening at 7:45 p.m., after MACJC South Champion Pearl River takes on fourth-seeded Mississippi Delta of the MACJC North at 6 p.m.
Tuesday's opening-round men's slate will tip off with South No. 2 seed Jones County pitted against North No. 3 seed Northeast Mississippi at 1 p.m., followed at 2:45 p.m. by MACJC North Division Champion Holmes versus fourth-seeded East Central from the MACJC South.
Throughout postseason tournament action, all East Mississippi basketball games are scheduled to be live video-streamed via www.EMCCAthletics.com/live with EMCC Director of Digital Media Matt Pellegrin set to call the play-by-play action.
