EMCC freshmen Bryley Rodriguez and Mollie Singleterry tabbed to MACJC All-State Softball Team
East Mississippi Community College freshmen Bryley Rodriguez and Mollie Singleterry have earned MACJC All-State softball honors, as selected by the head softball coaches of the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges and announced Tuesday by the MACJC office.
SCOOBA – East Mississippi Community College freshmen Bryley Rodriguez and Mollie Singleterry have earned MACJC All-State softball honors, as selected by the head softball coaches of the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges and announced Tuesday by the MACJC office.
Along with Rodriguez and Singleterry being named to the first and second teams, respectively, sophomore AG Stewart collected honorable mention recognition for EMCC.
Rodriguez, from Cankton, La., split time in the circle and at third base for Coach Kyndall White's EMCC Lady Lions this past season. Along with ranking as the team's second-leading hitter with a .322 batting average, Rodriguez owned an 8-13 pitching record as a collegiate rookie. At the plate, Rodriguez had 11 extra-base hits, including seven doubles and three home runs, while driving in 20 runs on the season. In the circle, she led EMCC's pitching staff with 90 strikeouts, 140.1 innings pitched, 21 games started and 12 complete games for the year.
Singleterry, a product of Wayne County High School, paced the Lady Lions in batting average (.372) and on-base percentage (.458) this season as the team's starting second baseman. In addition to tying for the club lead with 10 doubles and 20 bases on balls, she was second on the team with 23 runs batted in and 63 total bases.
Stewart, a sophomore right-hander from Morton, posted a team-best 9-11 pitching record with two shutouts and two saves this past year. The former Pisgah High School standout made 31 appearances in the circle, including 19 starts, with 10 complete games on the season. During her two seasons in Scooba, Stewart posted a career pitching mark of 13-15 while throwing 189.1 career innings for the Lady Lions.
