Additional schedule adjustments made for East Mississippi’s regular-season softball finales
Continuing wet field conditions and the forecast for additional rain around the state have caused the further postponement of East Mississippi Community College’s final two regular-season softball doubleheaders. EMCC’s “Sophomore Day” doubleheader against Northwest Mississippi is now set for a 2 p.m. start Sunday afternoon on the Scooba campus.

In addition, the Lions' regular-season road finale at third-ranked Mississippi Gulf Coast has been moved to Tuesday afternoon (April 19). First pitch for Tuesday's twin-bill in Perkinston is set for 2 p.m.
Coach Kyndall White's EMCC Lions (17-19, 12-12) and the Northwest Rangers (16-16, 10-14) are bidding to earn spots in next week's (April 22-23) MACJC best-of-three playoff series. With the top eight teams advancing to postseason play, EMCC entered the current week in seventh place – one game ahead of Pearl River and two games in front of Northwest – within the conference softball standings.
The dozen EMCC players set to be recognized during Sunday's 1:30 p.m. pre-game "Sophomore Day" activities on the Scooba campus are Amandalyn Abney (Center Hill HS), Heather Abney (Center Hill HS), Valiree Blair (Richland), Chandler Ellis (Vicksburg), Autumn Gilbert (D'Iberville), Breanna Glass (Noxapater), Jordyn Jackson (Hamilton), Marissa Landrum (D'Iberville HS), Zoie LaVergne (Rayne, LA), Molly McLeod (Clarkdale HS), Emily Patrick (Senatobia), and Blake Rigdon (Central Academy).
