SCOOBA – The East Mississippi Community College softball team will begin the final week of regular-season MACJC play with a crucial midweek "Sophomore Day" home doubleheader against Northwest Mississippi. With postseason implications on the line, Wednesday's EMCC-NWCC twin-bill is set for a 3 p.m. first pitch at the EMCC Softball Field on the Scooba campus.
Beginning this year within the 15-member MACJC softball ranks, the top eight teams with the best regular-season conference records will advance to best-of-three playoff series to be hosted by the league's top four schools on April 22-23.
Coach Kyndall White's 17-19 East Mississippi Lions enter the week in seventh place among the MACJC's softball standings with an even 12-12 conference record. Currently with a one-game lead over Pearl River (11-13) and a two-game cushion over Northwest Mississippi (10-14), EMCC is slated to conclude regular-season action with a Saturday road doubleheader at nationally third-ranked and second-place Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Having most recently been swept on the road last week at No. 11 Itawamba (4-3 & 9-1) and at No. 4 East Central (7-4 & 11-2), the EMCC Lions will face their third nationally ranked opponent during the two-week span to end the regular season by traveling to Perkinston for Saturday's noon doubleheader against the No. 3-ranked Lady Bulldogs of Mississippi Gulf Coast.
