SCOOBA – Continued wet field conditions following this week's wintry weather have pushed back East Mississippi Community College's MACJC North Division softball opener versus Northwest Mississippi Community College until Saturday afternoon on the Scooba campus. Postponed one day to allow for extra drying time and field preparation, first pitch for Saturday's EMCC-NWCC softball doubleheader is set for 2 p.m. at the EMCC Softball Field.
As a result, East Mississippi's previously scheduled Saturday tournament participation at Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa has been cancelled to allow for division contests to take precedence.
Coach Kyndall White's EMCC Lady Lions are 2-8 on the season and will be looking to snap an eight-game losing skid Saturday in their division opener. Most recently, EMCC was swept, 10-1 and 10-2, by rival East Central Community College this past Tuesday in Decatur.
Saturday's doubleheader against Northwest Mississippi will mark the Lady Lions' first home competition since sweeping East Central, 12-4 and 7-6, in their season opener back on Feb. 10 in Scooba.
