Sophomore quarterback Wyatt Roberts of No. 8 EMCC tabbed MACJC Offensive Player of the Week

SCOOBA – East Mississippi Community College sophomore quarterback Wyatt Roberts has been named the MACJC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance during the Lions' 44-28 road victory over Holmes Community College a week ago in Goodman.
The 6-foot, 195-pound Roberts completed 27-of-37 passes last Thursday at Holmes for a career-high 358 yards and two touchdowns to mark his fourth 300-yard passing game of the season. He also added a 7-yard touchdown run against the Bulldogs.
For the season, the former Louisville High School standout currently ranks fifth among the NJCAA statistical leaders with 20 passing touchdowns to go along with only one pass interception on the year. Roberts also stands sixth nationally in both passing yards per game (285.6 yds/gm) and pass completion percentage (65.2%). He enters Thursday's MACJC North Division showdown pitting eighth-ranked EMCC and No. 4 Northwest Mississippi having completed 144-of-221 passes for 1,999 yards through the first seven weeks.
Roberts, along with Hinds defensive lineman Marcus Loud and Jones County punter Patrick Ponder, will now be nominated for national honors by the National Junior College Athletic Association.
Roberts becomes the second EMCC Lion to garner MACJC Player of the Week honors this season. During Week 3 of the current campaign, sophomore wide receiver/kick returner Allenzae Staggers collected both NJCAA and MACJC Special Teams Player of the Week accolades after amassing 267 all-purpose yards and scoring four touchdowns in East Mississippi's 69-0 home triumph over Coahoma on Sept. 10.
