With consecutive MACJC doubleheader sweeps over Southwest Mississippi, nationally ranked Jones County and Holmes to begin conference play this season, East Mississippi is back in the NJCAA's Marucci Sports Division II baseball poll after spending much of last season nationally ranked. A year ago, the Lions were ranked as high as No. 5 in the NJCAA poll en route to claiming the school's first MACJC North Division baseball title since 1998 as EMCC's winningest team (32-13) since 1990.
There are four MACJC teams ranked in this year's initial regular-season NJCAA Division II baseball poll. Heading the list is reigning national runner-up Hinds Community College at the No. 1 spot followed by Jones County at No. 8 and Northwest Mississippi at No. 17.
