EMCC freshman guard Tye Metcalf chosen MACJC All-State/North Division First Team
East Mississippi Community College freshman guard Tye Metcalf has been named to the 2018-19 MACJC Women’s Basketball All-State/North Division First Team, as chosen by the head women’s basketball coaches of the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges.
SCOOBA – East Mississippi Community College freshman guard Tye Metcalf has been named to the 2018-19 MACJC Women's Basketball All-State/North Division First Team, as chosen by the head women's basketball coaches of the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges.
As one of five players selected to this year's first-team all-state women's squad from the MACJC's North Division, Metcalf led head coach Sharon Thompson's EMCC Lady Lions in scoring (14.0 ppg), assists (70), steals (42), 3-pointers made (21) and free throw percentage (72.4%). The left-handed backcourt performer also averaged 3.2 rebounds per game this past season.
A product of Southaven High School, Metcalf posted four 20-point outings as an EMCC freshman, including a season-high 26 points versus Meridian in just her second collegiate appearance. She also tallied 23 points at Coastal Alabama-North, 22 at Mississippi Delta and 20 at Snead State.
Metcalf was joined on the 2018-19 MACJC All-State/North Division First Team by Dayzsha Rogan (Northeast Mississippi), Shaniyah Buford (Itawamba), Walneika Holmes (Coahoma) and Jekalen Jones (Holmes).
