Less than two weeks ago (Nov. 7) in Scooba, the EMCC women prevailed, 79-47, while the Lions fell by a single point, 82-81. Both of EMCC's losses on the men's side this season have come against Wallace-Selma.
In the women's rematch, EMCC extended a 30-26 halftime lead by outscoring the Patriots, 25-8, and holding them to without a made field goal during the third quarter. A low-scoring (17-9) fourth quarter gave the Lions the easy 29-point triumph.
In snapping a two-game losing skid, head coach Sharon Thompson's 4-2 EMCC women's squad received a combined 45 points from sophomore Quantesha Patterson and freshman Tyeisha Juhan. Patterson, a product of East Webster High School, registered her fourth double-double of the year and 17th of her EMCC career with 25 points and 12 rebounds to go along with six steals, three assists and two blocks. Falling to 1-6 on the year, the Wallace-Selma women were led by Kierra Davis' 15 points.
During the men's nightcap, the hot-shooting Patriots knocked down nine 3-pointers in the opening half to jump out to a 49-39 halftime advantage. After scoring the first six points of the second stanza, Wallace-Selma coasted to the 22-point victory.
