BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The visiting East Mississippi Community College women's basketball team claimed a come-from-behind 74-61 victory over Lawson State Community College Monday evening.
Down 31-26 at halftime, the Lady Lions outscored Lawson State, 48-30, in the second half to improve to 2-1 on the young season.
Head coach Sharon Thompson's EMCC Lady Lions received a game-high 26 points from former Columbus High School All-American Ki-Ki Patterson. Sophomore transfer Shannon DeFoe added 10 points for the winners.
Falling to 3-2 on the year, Lawson State was led by Tiera Williams and Destini McClary with 19 and 17 points, respectively.
Both East Mississippi basketball teams will be back in action with a Thursday road doubleheader against rival East Central Community College. A 5:30 p.m. women's game will be followed by a 7:30 p.m. men's contest at the Brackeen-Wood Physical Education Building in Decatur.
