EMCC’s Marissa Landrum and Emily Patrick selected to MACJC All-State Softball Team
East Mississippi Community College sophomores Marissa Landrum and Emily Patrick have been named to the 2016 Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges All-State Softball Team, as selected by the MACJC’s head softball coaches.
SCOOBA – East Mississippi Community College sophomores Marissa Landrum and Emily Patrick have been named to the 2016 Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges All-State Softball Team, as selected by the MACJC's head softball coaches.
Landrum, a product of D'Iberville High School, led EMCC with her .385 batting average this past season along with topping the team in doubles (6), extra-base hits (10) total bases (64) and slugging percentage (.525). She also ranked second on this year's squad with three home runs, 22 runs batted in and 23 runs scored in helping lead the 19-23 Lions to a 14-14 conference record en route to making their seventh postseason appearance in the last eight years.
A two-year starter at third base for head coach Kyndall White's Lions, Landrum batted .353 during her East Mississippi career with 35 RBIs and 39 runs scored.
Patrick, from Senatobia, was also a two-year starter and .303 career hitter for the Lions primarily as a designated player. She capped her EMCC career by hitting .331 as a sophomore with a team-leading 28 RBIs. Patrick also had two homers, five doubles and 20 runs scored this past season.
A total of 28 players representing all 15 league member schools were chosen to this year's MACJC All-State Softball Team. Catcher Jessica Crum of Copiah-Lincoln was voted the MACJC's Player of the Year, while Mississippi Gulf Coast's Kaitlin Lee garnered MACJC Pitcher of the Year honors.
