Highlighted by Taycie Matthews’ winning effort during Saturday night’s championship round of the barrel racing event, the East Mississippi Community College women’s rodeo team claimed sixth-place team honors at this past week’s College National Finals Rodeo held at the Ford Wyoming Center.
For the second consecutive year, East Mississippi Community College will be represented by a school-record eight student-athletes at the upcoming College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming. The week-long collegiate rodeo championships will begin Sunday (June 12) and continue through the following Saturday (June 18) at the Ford Wyoming Center.
The East Mississippi Community College rodeo teams closed out the regular-season portion of their NIRA Ozark Region schedules with a second-place men’s finish and a third-place women’s finish at Northwest Mississippi Community College’s annual Ranger Rodeo. The three-day event, presented by Farm Credit Southeast Missouri and co-hosted by the Sikeston Jaycees, concluded Saturday at the Art Saunders Arena at the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo grounds.
