East Mississippi finishes seventh in MACJC golf tournament held at Dancing Rabbit

PHILADELPHIA – The East Mississippi Community College men's golf team finished seventh at this week's MACJC tournament held at Dancing Rabbit Golf Club. The MACJC's third golf event of the spring slate concluded Tuesday on the Azaleas course.
Guided by first-year head coach Benji Williams, the EMCC Lions improved four strokes with Tuesday's 316 team score to finish with a two-day total of 636. Meridian Community College (294-299—593) out-distanced the 10-team field with a 25-stroke advantage over Mississippi Gulf Coast (314-304—618). Copiah-Lincoln (313-307—620) placed third ahead of Northwest Mississippi (311-313—624), Northeast Mississippi (314-314—628) and East Central (324-310—634).
Individually, Northeast Mississippi's Alex Tull carded a 1-under-par 71 Tuesday following Monday's even-par 72 to edge MGCCC's Grant Motter (73-71—144) by a single stroke and claim medalist honors.
For East Mississippi, sophomore Hunter Harmon, a Calhoun Academy product, again led the way for the Lions with a 15th-place finish after shooting rounds of 75 and 80 for his 155 total. Fellow EMCC sophomore Chase Chitwood improved eight strokes between rounds and tied for 19th place (83-75—158). Steven Eilders, of Ridgeland, followed close behind in 23rd place with a two-day total of 159 (78-81).
Caledonia's Trent Humber tied for 37th place (84-80—164) for the Lions, while freshman Daniel Schroder rounded out EMCC's scorecard with a pair of 85s to finish 50th.
East Mississippi resumes MACJC golf action, April 6-7, in a two-day tournament to be hosted by Northwest Mississippi Community College at Wedgewood and Back Acres.
