East Mississippi trio garners All-Region 23 basketball honors
East Mississippi Community College standouts Tye Metcalf, Ja’Mia Hollings and Jakorie Smith have earned All-Region 23 basketball team honors for their efforts during the 2019-20 season. The respective 10-member, all-region teams were announced Wednesday following a vote of the head men’s and women’s junior college basketball coaches in the states of Mississippi and Louisiana.

EMCC Lions drop 70-64 opening-round men’s decision to Hinds at Region 23 Basketball Tournament
In a hard-fought, opening-round battle, the fourth-seeded Lions of East Mississippi Community College dropped a tough 70-64 decision to No. 5 seed Hinds Community College during Tuesday’s men’s action of the NJCAA Region 23 Basketball Tournament being played at A.E. Wood Coliseum on the Mississippi College campus.

EMCC teams set for NJCAA Region 23 Basketball Tournament in Clinton
After serving as the proud host of last week’s MACJC Basketball Tournament on the Scooba campus, East Mississippi Community College’s hoops teams are set to begin competition in this week’s (March 3-6) NJCAA Region 23 Tournament in Clinton. The four-day tournament begins with men’s opening-round action on Tuesday with women’s action starting on Wednesday at A.E. Wood Coliseum on the Mississippi College campus.

EMCC to host MACJC Basketball Tournament, Feb. 24-27, on Scooba campus
For the first time in a decade, East Mississippi Community College will serve as the proud host of next week’s (Feb. 24-27) MACJC Basketball Tournament on the Scooba campus. The four-day men’s and women’s combined tourney will tip off Monday and continue through Thursday night’s championship games at EMCC’s Keyes T. Currie Coliseum.

The Lions fell for just the second time in division play by dropping a 71-66 home decision to Northwest Mississippi during Monday’s MACJC North Division basketball doubleheader played at Keyes T. Currie Coliseum. In women’s action, the Lady Lions extended their win streak to 14 consecutive games with a 61-54 victory over the visiting Lady Rangers.

The EMCC Lions remained tied for first place atop the division standings by claiming a hard-fought 56-47 road decision over Coahoma during Thursday’s MACJC North Division basketball action played at the Pinnacle. The visiting Lady Lions posted their 13th consecutive victory and remained perfect in division play with a 67-50 win over the Lady Tigers in women’s action.

EMCC's basketball teams improved to a combined 15-1 on the year in MACJC North Division play by sweeping Holmes Community College on the road during Monday’s conference hoops action played at Frank Branch Coliseum. The Lions completed the sweep with a last-second 66-65 overtime win over the Bulldogs, while the Lady Lions extended their current win streak to 12 consecutive games with a 73-49 victory over Holmes in women’s action.

The EMCC Lions bounced back from their first division loss of the season earlier in the week by claiming a 77-66 home win over Mississippi Delta during Thursday’s MACJC North Division basketball action played at Keyes T. Currie Coliseum. In women’s action, the division-leading Lady Lions claimed their 11th consecutive win by coasting to a 93-67 victory over the visiting Lady Trojans.

The EMCC Lions fell victim to a 41-point explosion by DeAnthony Tipler in dropping a 96-53 road decision to the hot-shooting Tigers of Northeast Mississippi during Monday’s MACJC North Division men’s basketball action played at Bonner Arnold Coliseum. In women’s action, EMCC’s Lady Lions completed the first rotation of regular-season division play in unbeaten fashion by holding on for a narrow 61-60 road victory over the Lady Tigers.

The EMCC Lions improved to 2-0 in MACJC North Division play by claiming a 70-66 home win over visiting Holmes Community College during Thursday’s action played at Keyes T. Currie Coliseum. In women’s play, the Lady Lions won their sixth straight game and also moved to 2-0 within the division with a 55-36 victory over the Lady Bulldogs.

In their first game action following the semester break, the EMCC Lions battled back from a double-digit deficit before dropping a heartbreaking 63-62 home decision to Meridian Community College during Monday’s MACJC action played at Keyes T. Currie Coliseum. EMCC’s Lady Lions opened the doubleheader by claiming their fifth straight win with a 61-48 victory over the visiting Lady Eagles.
