Trio of EMCC basketball standouts tabbed MACJC All-State First Team

Three East Mississippi Community College basketball players have been named MACJC All-State First Team for their season-long efforts this past year. Repeat women’s honoree Quantesha Patterson and freshman teammate Tyeisha Juhan along with sophomore men’s recipient David McFarland were chosen by the respective head basketball coaches of the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges.

EMCC hoopster David McFarland signs with Southern Illinois University Edwardsville

East Mississippi Community College’s David McFarland will continue his college basketball career at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. The sophomore guard signed his National Letter of Intent during a Tuesday afternoon signing event on the EMCC campus.

EMCC concludes regular-season road hoops slate by falling at Itawamba

In their final regular-season road action, the East Mississippi Community College basketball teams were swept at Itawamba Community College Monday evening at the Davis Event Center. The ICC Lady Indians stayed atop the division with a 70-65 win over the EMCC women, while Itawamba completed the sweep with a 78-66 victory over the Lions in the nightcap.

EMCC women breeze to 61-37 road win over Delta; Lions fall to Trojans 78-72 in men’s nightcap

Tyeisha Juhan and Quantesha Patterson combined for 49 points to help lead the East Mississippi Community College women’s basketball team to a convincing 61-37 road win over Mississippi Delta Community College during Thursday’s MACJC North Division action. In the men’s nightcap, EMCC’s possible postseason tournament chances took another hit with a 78-72 setback to the Trojans at J.T. Hall Coliseum.

EMCC Lions surrender halftime leads in dropping home hoops twin bill to Northeast

The East Mississippi Community College basketball teams couldn’t hold onto halftime leads in dropping home decisions to Northeast Mississippi Community College during Thursday’s MACJC North Division action at Keyes T. Currie Coliseum. The EMCC women fell, 68-60, to the division-leading Lady Tigers, while the Lions surrendered 54 second-half points in dropping an 87-78 nightcap decision to the Northeast men.

East Mississippi registers much-needed home hoops division sweep over Coahoma

East Mississippi Community College recorded a much-needed basketball doubleheader sweep over visiting Coahoma Community College during Monday’s MACJC North Division action played at Keyes T. Currie Coliseum. The EMCC women erased a 19-point deficit to post a 66-61 comeback win, while the Lions snapped a four-game losing skid with a decisive 83-52 triumph over the Tigers in the men’s nightcap.

EMCC Lions swept at Northwest to tip off second half of MACJC North Division hoops slate

Tipping off the second half of MACJC North Division regular-season play, the visiting East Mississippi Community College basketball teams were swept by Northwest Mississippi Community College Thursday evening at Howard Coliseum. The EMCC women fell, 86-81, while the Lions were downed in the men’s nightcap, 85-79.

EMCC dropped a 62-57 decision in the women’s contest, while the Indians maintained their division lead with an 83-69 victory over the Lions in the nightcap.

The EMCC women remained unbeaten in MACJC North Division play with a 74-59 win over Delta, while the Lions succumbed to the hot-shooting Trojans, 91-71, during the men’s nightcap.

In the resumption of division action following the holiday break, the East Mississippi Community College basketball teams earned a doubleheader road split with Coahoma Community College Thursday night at the Pinnacle. The EMCC women stayed unbeaten in MACJC North Division play with an easy 88-62 victory, while the Lions dropped a 64-60 decision to the Tigers in the men’s nightcap.
