Five-time national champion EMCC Lions atop NJCAA Preseason Football Rankings

For the sixth time in the last eight years, East Mississippi Community College will kick off the upcoming football season as the nation’s top-ranked team in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Preseason Football Rankings.  As selected by the NJCAA Football Committee, the rankings were announced Monday by the NJCAA national office headquartered in Charlotte, N.C.

Reigning NJCAA football champion EMCC to host “Meet the Lions” event Wednesday on Scooba campus

Fans will have their first opportunity to check out the two-time reigning NJCAA football champion Lions of East Mississippi Community College during Wednesday’s (Aug. 21) scheduled “Meet the Lions” event on the Scooba campus. Festivities are set to begin at 7:30 p.m. at EMCC’s Sullivan-Windham Field, and admission is free of charge.

Six East Mississippi Lions tabbed 2018 NJCAA Football All-Americans

For their individual efforts in helping lead the East Mississippi Community College Lions to their fifth NJCAA national championship and seventh MACJC state title during the past decade, six members of EMCC’s most recent unbeaten championship football team have been tabbed as 2018 NJCAA Football All-Americans.  First and second teams along with honorable mention selections were made by the NJCAA Football Committee and announced Tuesday by the NJCAA national office headquartered in Charlotte, N.C.

No. 1 East Mississippi claims fifth national title in eight years with 10-9 victory over No. 2 Garden City in Pittsburg, Kan.

Defense does indeed win championships.  The nation’s leader in scoring defense rose to the occasion once again, as the top-ranked Lions of East Mississippi Community College claimed their fifth national title in eight years with a hard-fought 10-9 victory over No. 2 Garden City (Kan.) Community College during Thursday’s NJCAA eTeamSponsor Football National Championship.  The much-anticipated gridiron matchup between the national junior college champions of the past two years was played at Carnie Smith Stadium on the campus of Pittsburg State University in front of a live national television viewing audience (CBS Sports Network) for the first time in NJCAA history.

No. 1 East Mississippi takes on No. 2 Garden City for NJCAA football championship in Pittsburg, Kan.

Pitting the most recent junior college football champions head-to-head for this year’s national title, the 2018 NJCAA eTeamSponsor Football National Championship game will feature the top-ranked and reigning national champion Lions of East Mississippi Community College against the second-ranked and 2016 national champion Garden City (Kan.) Community College Broncbusters on Thursday, Nov. 29 in Pittsburg, Kan.  Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT at Carnie Smith Stadium on the campus of Pittsburg State University.
