East Mississippi Community College announces 2019-20 cheerleading team
East Mississippi Community College’s cheerleading team for the 2019-20 academic year has been announced by first-year EMCC cheer coach Laura Posey.
SCOOBA – East Mississippi Community College's cheerleading team for the 2019-20 academic year has been announced by first-year EMCC cheer coach Laura Posey.
Returning from last year's EMCC squad will be the cheerleading quartet comprised of rising sophomores India Jones (West Jones HS), Madison Keenan (Enterprise), Taylor Krajewski (Louisville/Winston Academy) and Shania Moore (Philadelphia). Leo the Lion mascot Courtavis Hairston (Columbus) also returns to the team.
This year's 21-member EMCC cheerleading team will feature five sets of former high school classmates. Keenan will welcome the arrival of former prep teammate Lauren McKee from Enterprise High School, while returnee Shania Moore will be joined by EMCC softball signee Kamryn Moore by way of Philadelphia High School. The freshman trio of Savanna Brown, Kamryn Clark and Kensley Hodge will all arrive together on the Scooba campus from Northeast Jones High School. Newcomers Gracie Berry and Alexis Session will continue to cheer together at EMCC after graduating this past spring from Pearl High School as will Neshoba Central High School products Sharmon Griffin and Kelsey Tubby.
In addition to bringing on board transfers Kaci Deaton (Ingomar HS/Blue Mountain College), Kaylie Meeks (Purvis HS/Mississippi Gulf Coast CC) and Khalyja Rucker (Yazoo County HS/Holmes CC) to this year's EMCC cheer team, the Lions will also welcome to the Scooba campus freshman newcomers Kadasha Bryant (East Webster HS), Aylayjah Gee (Moundville, AL/Hillcrest HS), Amberly Harden (West Point/Oak Hill Academy) and Javonte' Ragsdale (Kosciusko).
In addition, East Mississippi will hold tryouts for a mascot position on Friday, Aug. 16 at Keyes T. Currie Coliseum on the Scooba campus.
