EMCC’s Anthony Hickman and Dillon Brown collect MACJC All-State baseball honors
East Mississippi Community College sophomore infielder Anthony Hickman and freshman outfielder Dillon Brown have collected MACJC All-State second-team baseball honors, as selected by the head baseball coaches of the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges and announced Friday by the MACJC office.
SCOOBA – East Mississippi Community College sophomore infielder Anthony Hickman and freshman outfielder Dillon Brown have collected MACJC All-State second-team baseball honors, as selected by the head baseball coaches of the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges and announced Friday by the MACJC office.
As the lone EMCC player to start all 42 games this past season, Hickman ranked second among Lion regulars with his .315 batting average as a sophomore. While dividing his 2018 starts between third base and shortstop, Hickman led the team in several offensive categories, including home runs (8), runs batted in (36), doubles (14), hits (51), runs scored (32) and slugging percentage (.549).
A two-year starter for Coach Chris Rose's EMCC Lions, Hickman batted .319 for his career with 94 hits, including 30 for extra bases, and 63 runs scored. The Pearl River Central High School product started all 80 career games in which he played at East Mississippi. Hickman has plans to continue his baseball career at Mississippi State.
Brown, out of Gulfport High School, hit .271 as a freshman starter in right field for the Lions this past year. He ranked second on the team behind Hickman with 26 runs batted in and third with 24 runs scored. Along with hitting six doubles, three homers and a triple, Brown led EMCC with eight stolen bases on the season.
