East Mississippi baseball alumnus LeDarious Clark selected to Northwest League All-Star team roster
Former East Mississippi Community College all-region outfielder LeDarious Clark has been named to the Northwest League's 2015 All-Star baseball roster as a member of the Spokane Indians. The inaugural Northwest League vs. Pioneer League All-Star Game presented by Cenex Zip Trip stores will take place Tuesday (Aug. 4) at Avista Stadium in Spokane.
SPOKANE, Wash. – Former East Mississippi Community College all-region outfielder LeDarious Clark has been named to the Northwest League's 2015 All-Star baseball roster as a member of the Spokane Indians. The inaugural Northwest League vs. Pioneer League All-Star Game presented by Cenex Zip Trip stores will take place Tuesday (Aug. 4) at Avista Stadium in Spokane.
Clark, who was a two-year starter for head coach Chris Rose's EMCC Lions, currently leads the Class A Short Season league with eight home runs, 35 runs scored and .609 slugging percentage. The 12th-round pick of the Texas Rangers in this year's Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft is also hitting .338 with a .393 on-base percentage to go along with 20 RBIs, 20 extra-base hits and 17 stolen bases in 35 games played.
As a current frontrunner for the Northwest League's Most Valuable Player honor, Clark began his professional career with an early 18-game hitting streak to mark the second-longest such streak since Spokane has been affiliated with the Texas Rangers. The 5-foot-9, 190-pound rookie owns a pair of multi-homer games for the Spokane Indians this season.
A former all-state performer at Southeast Lauderdale High School in Meridian, Clark hit .317 and compiled a .505 slugging percentage with 19 career doubles, 10 home runs and 33 stolen bases during his two seasons at East Mississippi. The all-star center fielder capped his EMCC career by garnering 2014 NJCAA All-Region 23 and MACJC All-State First Team honors after batting .325 as a sophomore with 21 extra-base hits, 45 runs scored and 30 RBIs for the Lions' 32-13 MACJC North Division championship club.
Following his two years on EMCC's Scooba campus, Clark played collegiately this past season at the University of West Florida in Pensacola. He earned All-Gulf South Conference Second Team laurels for the UWF Argonauts after hitting .329 with eight home runs, 39 RBIs and 21 stolen bases.
